News 23.05.08 We are excited by the addition of Lindy Purves to our team. She comes to us fresh from overseas with a degree in Agronomy through Lincoln University. Lindy grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Hunterville, later studied at Lincoln University graduating with B.Ag.SC (Honours). She worked for PGG Wrightsons Research, responsible for the Brassica Forage evaluation programme before travelling to America for the silage harvesting. Lindy has spent the last three years travelling between America, UK, Austalia and NZ driving trucks, tractors and bagging machines for the silage and wheat harvests. It was while working in America she developed a strong interest in maize which led her to seek work at John Austin Ltd. Lindy's responsibilities will also include maintaining the company's Precision Farming hardware and software equipment. John Austin has seen that the use of Precision Farming in the USA to improve cropping productivity and efficiency is expanding rapidly and he believes Precision Farming technology will have a major role to play in the way we farm in the future. While the company's continuing focus is Precision Farming and crop agronomy, he can see great value for future business efficiencies in the use of fleet management systems.
